This intensive, program is based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program created by Jon Kabat-Zinn for the UMASS medical School in 1979. This evidence based program offers secular mindfulness and meditation practices to help you change your relationship to stress, anxiety and pain.
I said this class was intensive, right?! Here are the classes included in the course:
1 1/2 hour orientation class (required)
7 - 2 1/2 hour classes
One 6-hour Saturday retreat (meets between weeks 6 & 7)
What to expect:
This course is highly experiential, here’s what we do each week:
guided meditation practices
small and large group exercises and discussions in a supportive atmosphere
daily home practices
Expect to spend up to one hour a day practicing what you have learned in class, with the help of guided audio meditations (which are provided throughout the course). The home practices are essential to the course.
