MBSR Mindfulness Intensive

In-Person or Online:

  • In-Person classes start Tuesday, August 27, 2024

  • Online classes start Thursday, August 29, 2024 (the online class is taught by my colleague, Danielle De Cosmo Goodwin)

What is this course?

This intensive 8-week course, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), was created by Jon Kabat-Zinn for UMASS Medical School in 1979. 

Through this evidence-based approach, you will develop mindfulness and meditation practices to help you adjust your relationship with stress, anxiety, and pain. It’s time to step into a more resilient future. 

What does it include?

The course is highly experiential; each week will include the following:

  • Guided meditation practices

  • Mindful yoga/movement

  • Small and large group exercises and discussions in the safe space of a supportive atmosphere

  • Daily home practices

  • All-day retreat

These home practices are essential to the course, and you should expect to spend up to an hour a day practicing what you have learned in the class. Guided audio meditations will be provided throughout the course to support you in your independent practice.

In-Person Class:

  • Orientation (in-person at 39 Columbia Dr, Tampa ):
    1 hour – Tuesday, August 27, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

  • 8 Weekly Classes (in-person at 39 Columbia Dr, Tampa):
    2 hours each – Tuesdays: September 3, 2024 – October 22, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM

  • 8 Weekly Classes (virtual): 2 hours each – Thursdays: September 5, 2024 – October 24, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM

In-Person Retreat Day:

The retreat will be in-person, even for those taking the course online and facilitated by Danielle and me.

  • Retreat Day (in-person at 5800 N Central Ave.): 7 hours – Sunday, October 6, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM

  • Lunch will be provided for the retreat day
